Everton and Coventry City show interest in Leeds United-linked attacker who could move for…

Everton, Coventry City and Ipswich Town credited with interest in Leeds United-linked Burnley man Zian Flemming

Everton, Coventry City and Ipswich Town have been named as admirers of Leeds United-linked Burnley forward Zian Flemming.

The 27-year-old has been a bright light in dark times for Burnley, contributing 10 goals to their unsuccessful battle for Premier League survival.

Vultures often circle when clubs lose their Premier League status and Flemming could be among those plucked from Burnley’s bruised squad this summer.

Interest in Burnley’s Zian Flemming

SportsBoom have now claimed there is interest from promoted Championship outfits Ipswich and Coventry, and that he is viewed as a potential value-for-money signing by Everton.

The report has also claimed there is interest from the forward’s native Netherlands, as well as Italy, but also that Flemming’s priority is a Premier League stay.

Burnley will reportedly listen to offers in the region of €20m (£17.3m), although relegation may weaken their hand significantly in negotiations.

Regarding interest from Leeds in Flemming, former Premier League scout Mick Brown told Football Insider: “Zian Flemming is a target for Leeds. It’s not anything new, they’re not only having a look now that Burnley have gone down, they’ve had scouts keeping an eye on him throughout the season.

“They know they want to sign a new striker, they’ll have a priority option for that position, and then they’ll have options further down the list. That’s where I believe Flemming is, he’s on that list of targets but I would be surprised if he was the number-one option for Leeds.

“He’s had a terrific season, 10 goals in the Premier League is nothing to be sniffed at, so he has impressed the clubs who have been watching him. But Leeds need a real top-class striker if they want to progress from where they are this season, so while Flemming is an option, I think they’ll look at others first.”

Leeds United’s attack

Leeds bolstered their frontline last summer with the free transfer signings of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, who were out of contract at Everton and Wolfsburg respectively.

The Whites have secured Premier League football for another year and can now look to add more attacking threat to their ranks.

Flemming is far from the only forward to have been linked with Leeds of late and many more will be mooted as potential targets in the coming weeks and months.

Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha have set the bar quite high, having proven to be shrewd additions to Daniel Farke’s squad. The former recently registered his 13th goal of the Premier League season, tucking home a penalty in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Both have limited the minutes afforded to last season’s top scorer Joel Piroe, who has been a bit-part player since the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
