The heat has been turned up on the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason with a bulk of the arrows pointed at quarterback Jalen Hurts.

After leading the franchise to two Super Bowls and one victory, there have now been a number of reports detailing dysfunction with the quarterback stemming from a report from ESPN.

But this week ESPN was back on Hurts and how he fits with the team, but this time Monday Night Football commentator and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman arrived at the defense of Hurts.

“I believe Jalen can do anything that he’s asked to do,” Aikman said on Get Up. “I go back to early in his career. We had them in the playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was Jalen’s first year as a starter. They did not play well in that game offensively. They really struggled, and they needed to be better throwing the football. And the very next year, it was remarkable the turnaround that we saw from the passing game and from Jalen Hurts. What that proved to me is he’s a quarterback that puts in the time to do everything he can to be his best, and so whatever he’s been challenged with this offseason, I fully expect him to come out and play the kind of football that we’re accustomed to seeing him play.”

After joining the team in 2020, Hurts has elevated the team from the depths of the NFC to consistent favorites in the division. The former Alabama quarterback has delivered a Super Bowl to the city and has been a three time Pro Bowl quarterback throughout his six years in the NFL.

However, the most unstable part of Hurts’ career has been at offensive coordinator. Over the past 11 years, dating back to his college days, Hurts has worked with 11 different offensive coordinators having to adjust to a new voice nearly every season.

This is something he will be tasked to do once again this season with Sean Mannion taking over the reigns as the team looks to repair its image in 2026.
