Wrestling legend Scott Steiner’s son signs with Saints, putting WWE dream on hold

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The son of a WWE Hall of Famer is getting his shot with the New Orleans Saints.

Brock Rechsteiner, the son of Scott Steiner, has signed with the Saints after taking part in the team’s rookie minicamp.

Rechsteiner is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound wide receiver out of Jacksonville State. He went undrafted before earning a spot on the Saints’ 90-man roster.

“I want to play football as long as I can,” Rechsteiner said.

In four seasons at Jacksonville State, Rechsteiner caught 52 passes for 630 yards and seven touchdowns. During his senior season, he had 36 receptions for 383 yards and five touchdowns.

Rechsteiner already has ties to WWE. He signed an NIL deal with the company in 2025 and said he still plans to pursue wrestling when his football career is over.

“I want to pursue football a long as I can, play as long as I can, but once I’m done, I’ll get into wrestling, too,” Rechsteiner said.

His father, Scott Rechsteiner, wrestled as Scott Steiner and became known as “Big Poppa Pump.” His uncle, Robert Rechsteiner, wrestled as Rick Steiner. The Steiner Brothers were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022 and are considered one of the most well-known tag teams in wrestling history.

Rechsteiner’s cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner, also tried football before moving into wrestling. He spent time with the Baltimore Ravens during training camp in 2020 and now wrestles in WWE as Bron Breakker.

Rechsteiner said he has modeled his work ethic after his family.

“My dad is a very hard worker, my uncle is a hard worker, my cousin Bron Breaker is a very hard worker, so it kind of just showed us how hard we need to work to be great at what we want to do,” Rechsteiner said.

Rechsteiner also spent time with the Tennessee Titans at rookie minicamp earlier this year but was not signed.

Now, he will try to turn a minicamp opportunity into a longer stay in New Orleans. The Saints announced the signing with a nod to his father’s famous catchphrase: “Holla if ya hear me.”
