Anthony Gordon looks set to be closing in on a summer move to Bayern Munich, though there is still work to be done before a club-to-club agreement is reached regarding a transfer fee.
England ace Gordon is valued at around $100 million (£75 million) but Bayern Munich has been keen to bring that down so far. The German side has had success in recent years when signing players like Luis Diaz and Michael Olise from English teams.
In 2024, Gordon was close to moving to Liverpool when a deal worth around the same sum was agreed. Joe Gomez would have done the other way in part exchange for around half of that amount.

That was in the specific context of Newcastle needing to sell players to comply with PSR regulations, however. When it sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, the Magpies were able to keep Gordon.
The player, then 23, signed a new contract soon into the season that followed. He has never gotten quite up to his peak levels again since, even if he scored 10 goals in the Champions League this year.
"I like Anthony Gordon; he has got great strengths and qualities," former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said on talkSPORT.

"His consistency is a problem. Yes, he had that wonderful run in Europe this season, but this is his highest scoring season.
"When you look at where Bayern Munich are at, I don’t think he threatens the XI. He is not on Diaz’s level or Olise’s level.
"So, from a footballing perspective, I am looking at it... if it does happen, amazing contract, they will pay him more than he is on at Newcastle, he is going to a club that are more likely to win things.
"They are going to play 60 games, so he will get games. But he is not on the same level as Luis Diaz, and he is what, four years younger, three years younger?

"So, unless Munich have got some sort of plan, Olise is off somewhere and Diaz is off somewhere, I don’t think (that's the case).
"OK, he has confidence in himself, fine, I am sure he has, he is that type of lad, but from a footballing perspective, as a player, I am trying to look at it from his point of view.
"Other than the financial gain, you are going to be sitting on the bench."

Liverpool.com says: There is definitely an argument that the Reds should be keen on Gordon. $100M doesn't feel like a crazy price tag and he is a winger with a lot of talent, who is also homegrown. Perhaps, after eventually selling Alexander Isak, Newcastle wouldn't want to let another of its stars move to Anfield.
