Liverpool’s search for a potential Andy Robertson replacement has landed on RB Leipzig’s David Raum, who emerging as an increasingly attractive option for the Reds. The 28-year-old Germany international has been on Anfield’s radar for some time.
Milos Kerkez is expected to be the first-choice left back heading into the 2026/27 campaign, but Arne Slot will need another option for squad that will once again be competing on multiple fronts next year.

In the Bundesliga this season, Raum has made 30 league appearances for Leipzig, scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists.
His natural instincts as an attacking full-back mirror Robertson’s trademark qualities, delivering dangerous crosses and set-piece deliveries while possessing the physical attributes to excel in a wing-back role when needed.
However, according to German outlet BILD, Raum finds himself at a contractual crossroads with RB Leipzig. The DFB star’s current deal expires in summer 2027, and despite feeling “very comfortable in Leipzig,” he faces a significant decision regarding his future.
Leipzig are reportedly insisting on a new performance-related contract structure that would see Raum’s basic salary capped at €5 million annually – a potential reduction from his current terms that could prove unpalatable for the defender.
BILD report:
“Talks will also be sought with captain David Raum (28) after the season. His contract ends in the summer of 2027. The DFB star feels very comfortable in Leipzig, but would also have to accept one of the new, strongly performance-related contracts with a basic salary of 5 million for the first time. One piece of the puzzle could be a creative bonus scheme.
This contract standoff presents Liverpool with a golden opportunity. Rather than paying premium prices for a left-back approaching his peak years, the Reds could negotiate a reasonable fee for a player entering the final 12-months of his deal, or potentially even structure a pre-contract agreement if negotiations drag beyond January 2027.
