After the public struggles of Liam Rosenior and Enzo Maresca, Xabi Alonso’s stance has been shared on working under the current Chelsea owners.
The relationship between the Chelsea hierarchy and its recent managers has not been good. Enzo Maresca initially provided the BlueCo project with its greatest validation, securing a top-four finish and winning both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, despite this silverware, Maresca decided to leave Stamford Bridge after a breakdown in communications with the medical department, salary, and control at the club.
Liam Rosenior was brought in to provide a more collaborative approach, signing a massive contract intended to bring stability. Yet, his time at the Bridge lasted just four months, struggling to navigate the internal politics and failed to command the dressing room.
CHELSEA PLAYER OF THE SEASON – FINAL!
Xabi Alonso has no concerns over the politics at Chelsea
I News are reporting that Alonso is not put off by the difficulties Liam Rosenior and Enzo Maresca had dealing with the politics at Chelsea, or the size of the task at Liverpool for that matter.
This comes after talks with Alonso’s representatives that have gone on for weeks, with the Blues seemingly making him their number one priority right now.
However, the lingering worry is that Liverpool could suddenly decide to offer Alonso a role that some say he’s been waiting for all along. Though it does appear as if Arne Slot is set to stay for now.

The Chelsea owners need to learn their lesson
Chelsea’s owners must move away from the cycle of short-term fixes and internal friction that undermined both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.
The communication breakdown showed that the board often prioritises data over the human element of coaching. And Rosenior’s brief stint further highlighted that a long contract means little without a clear, collaborative structure to support it.
To succeed with their next appointment, the owners must provide genuine autonomy and stop the constant interference in dressing room matters.
