Ryan Alebiosu had a breakout season at Blackburn
Ryan Alebiosu joined Blackburn from Belgian club KV Kortrijk last summer in a deal worth just €576k. He has since made 39 appearances for Rovers, scoring one goal and five assists as they avoided relegation from the Championship this season.
His performances earned him a call‑up to the Nigerian squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as well. His contract with Blackburn runs until June 2028, with an option for an additional year, giving the club some leverage but the recent need to raise funds may force their hand.
Why Everton need Ryan Alebiosu?
Alebiosu’s game is built around dribbling, crossing, key passes and tackling. He likes to get forward, deliver crosses from wide areas and is not afraid to shoot from distance. Defensively, he is sound and his statistics are respectable for his position. He would provide natural width and crossing ability to David Moyes, something David Moyes has not had from that position in years, not since the prime of Seamus Coleman.
Everton’s right‑back issues have been a headache all season for David Moyes. Jake O’Brien has done a decent job, but he is a centre‑back by trade. Patterson was promising when he arrived from Rangers a few season back but he has been unable to stay fit or hold down a regular place. A natural, attack‑minded right‑back who can defend and deliver would transform Everton’s defence.
At 24, Ryan Alebiosu is entering his prime and has a full Championship season experience.His season performances have prompted interest from many clubs, including Genoa. Blackburn turned down Genoa’s offer for Alebiosu in January for around £4.3million. However, the situation has since changed and the club are now willing to listen to offers.
A similar offer to Genoa’s rejected offer may test Blackburn’s resolve. With the club now willing to sell, Everton have a clear opportunity to get a decent signing.
