Patriots’ 7th-round rookie charged with domestic assault, battery

Over the weekend, New England Patriots rookie linebacker Quintayvious Hutchins signed his rookie contract after being selected in the 7th round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Four days later, Hutchins was charged with domestic assault and battery. Hutchins was arraigned Wednesday morning in Newton District Court.

“Patriots 7th-round rookie LB Quintayvious Hutchins was charged with domestic assault and battery on a family/household member and pleaded not guilty earlier this morning. The team says it is aware of the situation and has no further comment at this time as they gather more information.”

Patriots statement: “We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.” https://t.co/E22GhKUy1E

This is still a developing situation for the former Boston College star. The hope is that this situation does not alter the start of his career and end it before it has even begun.

In 2025, Hutchins finished with 36 tackles (16 solo) with two sacks on the season. His 2024 season was even better, as he had 31 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one interception. Hutchins is a playmaker on the defensive end capable of being a great linebacker in the NFL.

It's been a wild offseason for the Patriots. Every single player, owner, coach, staff member, and fan wants the noise to go away, but it may not be silenced for quite some time. Running back TreVeyon Henderson recently demanded that people stop spreading false information about his head coach, Mike Vrabel, and former reporter Dianna Russini. The internet is not going to listen, but nobody forgets how good of a coach Vrabel is.

No team in the NFL wants the 2026-27 season to start faster than this organization, coming off a Super Bowl loss and all this drama.
