Yan Diomande has responded to the rumors linking him with a transfer to Liverpool this summer, and admitted he's using the speculation as motivation.

The 19-year-old is among the names being touted as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian leaving Anfield at the end of the season after nine years at the club.

Diomande has caught the eye after a sensational debut campaign in the Bundesliga, having joined RB Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes after the German side triggered his €20 million ($23M) release clause. His value is set to skyrocket, having recorded 13 goals and nine assists in 35 appearances this season.

There is plenty of speculation about Diomande’s future, with Liverpool one of the most prominent names linked with his signature this summer. Indeed, the Reds are reportedly taking a look at him and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola as potential targets.

Diomande has now been asked about the interest coming from Liverpool and other clubs, with the winger taking the rumors in his stride.

"You gonna be happy and motivate to do more," Diomande told reporters (via GOAL).

"I don't really think about this kind of thing because I'm trying to be focused on the pitch and because my job is playing football so [his representatives] gonna take care of everything outside of the pitch. So this kind of thing gives me a lot of motivation to see a lot of clubs speaking about you and stuff like this, but I'm focused."

Diomande is set to star in this summer’s World Cup with Ivory Coast, having only made his debut back in October, and played at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

No doubt there will be plenty of eyes on him in North America, although he insists he is in no rush to leave Leipzig.

"My contract here is until 2030, so I have four more years," Diomande explained. "What's going to happen afterwards? I don't know.

“I am a Leipzig player. I will never forget this opportunity. It's not only about playing football, but the club helped me a lot off the pitch.

“The media only sees me on the pitch, but the club helped me a lot with my family and my mom. The only thing I can do for them is to give everything on the pitch and this is what I'm trying to do every day."

He added: "Nobody knew me before and €20 million is a lot. It was a big risk for them and I thank them for that.

“And like I said today, we are in a good way and it's not over. We need to keep going, keep working hard.

“I want to thank God first of all because this year was amazing for me as a young player playing the AFCON at 19, play qualification of World Cup, playing Bundesliga and I'm on the way to play the World Cup.
