Anthony Gordon appears to be edging closer to a summer move away from Newcastle United. Back in 2024, the winger came close to joining Liverpool, but the Reds did not meet an £80million valuation.
As part of that arrangement, Joe Gomez was set to move in the opposite direction in a swap deal. The situation was heavily influenced by Newcastle’s need to comply with PSR regulations at the time.

After selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, the Magpies were able to ease their financial pressure and ultimately retain Gordon.
The 25-year-old subsequently signed a new contract early in the following season, but he has not quite managed to reach the same peak levels he showed prior to that period.
According to talkSPORT, Anthony Gordon has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, although a significant gap remains between the German champions and Newcastle United in negotiations.
Newcastle are demanding at least £75million for the winger, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, and there is confidence the asking price could be met given the level of interest.
Arsenal are also admirers of Gordon, while Liverpool retain a long-standing interest. However, the Reds are not expected to pursue a move this summer.
Bayern have prioritised signing a new winger after reclaiming the Bundesliga title, with Gordon emerging as one of their leading targets back in April.
He remains under contract at St James’ Park until 2030 after signing a long-term extension two years ago. Eddie Howe offered little insight into Gordon’s future when questioned last week, while the winger being left unused on the bench in Newcastle’s last two matches has only intensified speculation surrounding Bayern’s interest.
However, the Magpies boss has insisted that his star player remains fully committed, despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Howe said: “He wouldn’t be in the squad if that wasn’t the case. I judge that, as I said many times, not on communications elsewhere, I do that with my relationship with the player and how I see them train.”
Interest from Bayern follows a standout season for Gordon, particularly in Europe. He scored 10 goals in 12 Champions League appearances, breaking Alan Shearer’s record in the process.
Overall, the England international has registered 39 goals and 28 assists in 152 appearances across all competitions since joining the club from Everton.
Gordon has spent the last three years at Newcastle, earning 17 caps for England during that period, and could now link up with captain Harry Kane in Germany. A move away appears increasingly likely, and would not come as a major surprise to supporters this summer.
