Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has landed a surprise new job in football as he continues his punditry work with Sky Sports.
Carragher made 737 appearances for Liverpool during his playing career, winning a host of different trophies.
The Bootle-born centre-back won the FA and League Cup multiple times while also winning the Champions League in 2005.
Now, Carragher is well known for his punditry and analysis of the game, remaining in football after he retired.
The 48-year-old naturally still has close connections with the city and Merseyside, with his son also playing in the North West.
It has now been confirmed that Carragher has a new job in football, sticking with his roots as he looks to help a local club.

It has now been confirmed by Marine FC, who play their games in Crosby in Liverpool, that they have appointed Carragher in an advisory capacity.
Some may remember Marine for their historic FA Cup run, which saw them play against Tottenham Hotspur at their home ground.
The article linked describes Carragher as a Crosby resident, where Marine is based, and they've confirmed his appointment at a time when they've just secured an option on land for a new stadium development.
Speaking on the appointment of Carragher, James Leary, the CEO of Marine, suggests that Carragher is someone who genuinely cares about football in the local community, and he's been closely following the club.
“This is a brilliant moment for Marine Football Club. Jamie is someone who genuinely cares about football and the local community, and he’s followed closely what we’ve been building here over the last few years.
His experience and relationships will be a huge help to the club as we continue moving Marine forward over the coming years.”

Speaking on joining Marine, Carragher confirms that he's been watching the progress of the club from the outside, and he's hoping to support them going forward.
“Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go. I’ve enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years and I’m pleased to be able to support the club in an advisory capacity going forward.”
It's certainly an interesting new role for Carragher, who has primarily spent his non-playing career involved in punditry only.
The former Liverpool defender is perhaps following a similar path to his good mate Gary Neville, who is one of the owners of Salford City.
Whether Carragher ventures into ownership remains to be seen, but it appears he's taken his first step into working back in the game from a professional standpoint.
