Sunderland’s market value has increased significantly during their first season back in the Premier League.
There was an exciting announcement from Sunderland earlier this week after the Black Cats hierarchy announced they will invest a ‘multi-million pound sum’ into the Stadium of Light and Academy of Light.
A new LED perimeter advertising system will be installed at the Black Cats home and there will be an improvement and increase to corporate hospitality. This summer will also bring work on pitches at the Academy of Light and the club’s youth ranks will also benefit from ‘new technologies to enhance preparation, performance and recovery. The Black Cats House offices are to be refurbished and that followed after confirmation of an expansion to the safe-standing facilities at the Stadium of Light.
This represents another step forward off the pitch after Sunderland made great stride on it by securing promotion into the Premier League via last season’s Championship play-off final win against Sheffield United before an ambitious summer transfer window laid the foundations for what has been an impressive return to the top flight of English football. There is a clear excitement around Wearside as Regis Le Bris and his squad prepare for the final fortnight of what has already been a thrilling first season back in the Premier League. European football remains a long shot - but that should not take away from what has been a season full of lifelong memories.
Sunderland’s market value has increased significantly over the last 12 months - but how does it compare to their rivals across the Premier League?
