Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils join Bellingham race
Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils are reportedly in the running to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham this summer. According to reports from TEAMtalk (via CaughtOffside), Arsenal and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old ahead of the 2026/27 season. The younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham had a bit of a rocky start in Germany after his 2025 move from Sunderland, but he’s really found his feet lately and is now a fixture in the starting XI.
He has featured in 44 matches this term, chipping in with four assists along the way. His stats tell an interesting story: he completes 87.40% of his passes and sees plenty of the ball, averaging over 52 passes per game, putting him in the top 21% of Bundesliga midfielders for volume. Bellingham’s expected assists (xA) of 0.18 per 90 also ranks him better than 64% of his peers in the league.
It isn’t just about the passing, though; Bellingham has a real knack for sniffing out danger and works hard off the ball, giving him the kind of versatility managers love. That said, his crossing is still a work in progress as he hasn’t completed one in five attempts this year, and his key pass rate of 0.37 per game shows he isn’t quite a creative engine yet. With a contract running until 2030, Dortmund are in a very strong position, making a summer exit look like a tough deal to pull off.
Chelsea seriously considering summer transfer move for £50m Arsenal star
Which club actually makes sense for Bellingham, and does any of them truly need him right now?
United are looking to bring in at least two new faces in the middle of the park this summer as Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte head for the exit. Sky Sports suggests Elliot Anderson is still the main target, and you have to wonder if Bellingham, at just 20 and without any Premier League minutes under his belt, is more of a “one for the future” than the quick solution United need for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have a very settled midfield led by Declan Rice and could use a high-energy backup who won’t drop the level when rotated; Bellingham seems to fit that plan perfectly.
Man Utd have been told to hijack Man City’s summer move for £100m star
Then there’s Liverpool, who are usually the first to pounce on hungry young players and might actually have the most room to give him game time in 2026/27. To be honest, a move to London or Merseyside feels like a better option than Old Trafford at this stage, even if the latest Manchester United transfer news makes for a great headline.
