The Athletic has reported on several potential attacking signings that Liverpool could make this summer as they look to go again after the disappointing 2025-26 season.
The Reds are hopefully set to seal a Champions League qualification place, although it depends on their ability to beat Aston Villa and Brentford in their remaining two Premier League games.
Arne Slot has been questionable in the dugout after the success he enjoyed in his first campaign after replacing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Now, after last summer’s £460m transfer spend, the Dutchman is reportedly set to be backed again with a major outlay, with a recent report suggesting FSG will spend around £250m on new Liverpool signings.
Liverpool’s attacking transfer targets outlined ahead of massive summer window
Right wing
According to The Athletic, Liverpool have identified a number of options that they could sign, depending on the finances involved and availability.
Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise, who has 22 goals and 30 assists in all competitions this season, has been highlighted.
The Athletic reports disappointing but unsurprising news: “There’s no indication he is looking to move, and his contract runs until 2029. Bayern executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also recently said that no price tag would make them consider selling the France international.”
Yan Diomande is a much more realistic target on the right flank, however.
The Athletic reports: “The potential is obvious, which is why any fee to buy him will be significant. Like Olise, Diomande also signed a five-year deal when he arrived in Germany. And as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, Liverpool would also face competition for his signature.”
Bournemouth 19-year-old Rayan and Brighton star Yankuba Minteh area also targets.
Left wing
Liverpool’s most high-profile left-wing target is PSG star Bradley Barcola, who may leave the French capital for more starting minutes, as he currently plays second fiddle to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Athletic reports: “He’s the most exciting potentially obtainable player on the list, and one who would definitely lift spirits among Liverpool supporters going into next season.
“Barcola leaving PSG, even if his game time has been limited, would be tough, given the French club’s status as one of the best teams in the world, and Liverpool pulling together the funds to sign him also appears to be unlikely after last summer’s big spend.
“But he’s the type of player who should be considered if they are serious about strengthening for next season. At his age (turning 24 in early September), he’s the perfect profile of player who is ready to make an immediate impact, stick around for years, and still hold considerable value in the future.”
RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Crysencio Summervilla are also on Liverpool’s radar for left-wing targets.
Versatile forwards
Liverpool are also tracking a number of versatile forwards that can play across the front three, including Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, who the club tried to sign in 2024.
That said, The Athletic reports: “Gordon is quick, dynamic and comfortable out wide or in the No 9 role. After a difficult season at Newcastle, he looks set to be available for the right price, but at this stage Liverpool have no plans to revive their interest in him from 2024.”
Other names linked include Jarrod Bowen, Juve star Kenan Yildiz and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
