Packers will not be playing internationally in 2026

As part of the NFL’s slow-dripping of its schedule release, the league announced its full international schedule on Wednesday. Based on the slate of home teams, the final possibilities for the Green Bay Packers to play globally in 2026 were either as the road team against the Detroit Lions (Germany) or New Orleans Saints (France). With that being said, there were previous statements made that the Lions wanted to protect the Packers game from being an international contest, so it was doubtful that Green Bay would be pegged to that slot.

So when it was announced officially that the New England Patriots were going to take on the Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers were going to play the Saints, it officially ruled the Packers out of international play.

Now that the Dallas Cowboys will play a second international game, as the host team in Brazil, Green Bay is tied (with two games played) as the club with the fewest global contests played in NFL history.

While they’ve managed to avoid an overseas game in 2026, it’s setting up for the Packers to be “due” for an international game in future seasons.

The league will release its full schedule on Thursday at 7 pm ET.
