NFL Veteran Arrested By ICE

A report from The Indianapolis Star indicates that former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Daniel Adongo has spent several months in a prison cell after being detained by ICE.

The report states that Adongo is being held at the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, Indiana. He was a rugby star in Africa before coming to the United States to play in the NFL.

As a member of the Indianapolis Colts from 2013 to 2015, Daniel Adongo appeared in five games.

The Indianapolis Star reports that he has been battling mental illness for more than a decade. According to reports, his mental health problems began after he ended his football career in 2015:

The report states that Adongo has had arrests, psychiatric hospitalizations and mental health challenges for 10-plus years. His family and social workers believe he deals with mental illness because of injuries he suffered as an athlete, according to The Star.

The Indianapolis Star reached out to Adongo’s mother, who declined an interview. The newspaper also reached out to the Indianapolis Colts and ICE officials. The Colts declined to comment on the situation, and ICE did not provide answers about why Adongo was detained, his immigration status or if he is receiving mental health treatment.

ICE has held detainees at the Miami Correctional Facility since October 2025, according to the report.
