Liverpool are set to turn their attention to the summer transfer window, although securing Champions League qualification remains the immediate priority before any new arrivals can be considered.

The Reds are still three points short of guaranteeing a top-five finish in the Premier League, and with only two games remaining, it leaves them facing a nervy end to the season.

The atmosphere around Anfield has become increasingly tense, with sections of supporters voicing their frustration during Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea. Liverpool face Aston Villa next.

Despite the recent unrest, Liverpool are expected to continue with Arne Slot, who has already insisted the team will show a “100 per cent” improvement next season.

“Yeah, I do [think I will turn things around],” Slot said. “Not this season, by the way. This season they (fans) will have their opinion and it will not change.

“But if we can have the summer that we are planning to have I am 100% convinced we will be a different team next season than we are now. Different in terms of results, different in how things look.

“It’s not always that simple because sometimes you know what you have to do but it’s not always possible to get exactly what you want. For us, for me, it is really clear what we are lacking this season and we are trying.”

Slot’s likely continuation has also influenced managerial movement elsewhere, with Xabi Alonso now attracting interest, as Chelsea reportedly explore a move for the former Liverpool midfielder.

Liverpool are expected to have an active summer window, with Jarrod Bowen, Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande among the players linked with a switch to Anfield.

Elsewhere, Kole Ademuyiwa has confirmed his departure from Liverpool after 10 years at the club. The attacking U16 midfielder has been with the Reds since the U9 level and has been highly regarded throughout each age group he has represented.

He was part of the U15 trip to Japan last year, alongside other players who are also set to leave this summer. He posted on his Instagram page: “After 10 years at this club, my time has come to an end.

“Thank you to everyone who helped me along the journey and to my teammates who I can call brothers. Onto the next chapter YNWA ❤️❤️”
