Miami Dolphins: Secure Superstar Playmaker With Top-5 Salary at Position

Miami Dolphins superstar running back De’Von Achane enters the final year of his rookie contract. He is coming off a breakout third season, totaling a career high 1,350 rushing yards while averaging 5.7 yards per attempt and eight touchdowns in 16 games, along with 67 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Achane had his contract restructured by converting $4.62 million of his salary into a signing bonus, dropping his base salary to the league minimum to provide the Dolphins with immediate cap relief. However, this does not mean that the Pro Bowl running back will not be extended; a new deal is still on the table.

According to Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins have agreed to a lucrative multi-year contract extension with De’Von Achane, securing him through the 2030 season. As Schultz notes, the deal is for four years and is worth $68 million, including $32 million in guaranteed money. Achane’s annual salary of $17 million makes him the third-highest-paid running back in the NFL, behind Saquon Barkley’s $20.6 million and Christian McCaffrey’s $19 million, and surpassing Breece Hall’s $15.25 million.

As a result, the Dolphins were able to sign one of their core contributors to a long-term deal. Aaron Brewer and Jordyn Brooks are other extension candidates to keep an eye on. Both Brewer and Brooks enter a contract year and are scheduled to hit free agency at the end of the 2026 NFL Season.
