Liverpool could confirm its place in the Champions League with a win against Aston Villa on Friday, and when that happens, a fuller focus can be on what might happen this summer.

In the transfer market and on the training field, Liverpool has work to do. Adding pace and quality in wide areas is a must, while talented center-back Jeremy Jacquet has already been snapped up for a fee that could reach $83 million (£60 million) including add-ons from Rennes.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a forward whose name has cropped up a few times in the last couple of weeks.

Maghnes Akliouche

PSG has joined Liverpool and Manchester City in admiring AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche ahead of the summer, according to the French outlet L'Equipe.

Akliouche has emerged as a potential replacement for Lee Kang-in at the Parc des Princes. The right winger has scored seven goals in 42 appearances this season in all competitions.

Liverpool, of course, might need to bring in at least one wide forward this summer, with Mohamed Salah moving on. Akliouche might be a good option to consider and he has Champions League experience.

Liverpool.com says: Akliouche appears set to move on this summer, but his goalscoring would need to go up a level before the Reds were tempted, not least with his price said to be $58 million (£43 million) or more.

Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth managing director Tiago Pinto has emphatically claimed that 19-year-old forward Eli Junior Kroupi will not be allowed to depart this summer.

Speaking to the media in Spain, Pinto suggested that even a bid as big as €100 million ($117 million/£85 million) from a club like Liverpool or Barcelona would not be enough to convince the Cherries to cash in, though the Reds have not really been linked.

Junior Kroupi has scored 12 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this year. He signed from FC Lorient, a club in the same group as Bournemouth, for around $17 million (£12 million), arriving a year ago.

"Junior Kroupi will not leave Bournemouth," Pinto is quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo. "His contract still has more than four years remaining, there is no release clause, and he is not going anywhere.

"We will not sell Kroupi even if Barcelona or Liverpool offer €100 million. That is completely out of the question."

Liverpool.com says: Kroupi looks to be a real talent but he would be best staying at Bournemouth for another season, not least if they get into the Champions League. He is in the right place to continue his development for the time being.
