Manchester City fitness and goalkeeper coaches to leave this summer as Pep Guardiola uncertainty grows

**Manchester City fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura and goalkeeper coach Xabi Mancisidor are set to leave the club this summer, as per a new report.**

The appointment of **Hugo Viana** as City sporting director last summer kickstarted a revamp of personnel on and off the pitch at the Etihad Stadium, starting with **Pep Guardiola**‘s managerial staff.

Guardiola brought in **Pepijn Lijnders** – **Jurgen Klopp**‘s former assistant at **Liverpool** – and **Kolo Toure** as assistant coaches and hired **James French** as set-piece coach ahead of the season.

City remain in the hunt of a domestic treble in the final 10 days of their campaign, embarking on an **FA Cup** final against **Chelsea** this weekend amidst their titanic title race battle with **Arsenal**.

There remains great uncertainty over Guardiola’s future at the Etihad Stadium as despite being under contract till the summer of 2027, there is a growing belief in football that the Catalan could well leave **Manchester City** at the end of this season.

In a fresh development, [Sam Lee of The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7278501/2026/05/14/pep-guardiola-city-future-lorenzo-buenaventura/?source=user_shared_article&unlocked_article_code=1.iVA.wXLd.Typecxq3s_3f) has reported that City fitness coach **Lorenzo Buenaventura** and goalkeeping coach **Xabi Mancisidor** are set to leave the club this summer.

Buenaventura has worked with Guardiola at Barcelona and Bayern Munich and is a long-serving confidante, with Mancisidor also hugely popular with Guardiola and Manchester City’s goalkeepers since 2016.

Mancisidor is approaching the end of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and as City prepare to bid farewell to an integral member of their managerial staff, there are growing doubts over what these exits mean for Guardiola.

Enzo Maresca, who was relieved of his duties as Chelsea head coach on New Year’s Day, has been widely reported to be Manchester City’s preferred candidate to replace Guardiola, whether the Catalan decides to leave this summer or honour the final year of his contract.

**This is a developing story. More to follow.**
