Everton could play Newcastle United in a friendly in Scotland this summer. The proposal is one of several being explored as the club works on putting together its pre-season schedule.
Nothing is confirmed at this stage but, as first reported by the Chronicle, talks are understood to be centred on the game taking place at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
With a capacity of 67,144, the stadium, sponsored by Scottish Gas, is the largest in Scotland and would likely prove a popular venue for a high-profile summer friendly.

Newcastle are also in talks over a friendly with Roma, the sister club of Blues owners Friedkin Group (TFG).
Roma were the visitors for the closing home fixture of the last two summers for Everton - the last pre-season opposition at Goodison Park and the first at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Blues are yet to confirm their plans for what is set to be another big summer for the club.
This season could yet end with Everton spending the coming months preparing for a campaign in Europe, though a winless streak of five games has dented that ambition.
Even without the pressure of Europe, the summer transfer window is due to be an important one as the club continues work to strengthen a squad that was threadbare after the austerity that characterised the final years of Farhad Moshiri’s ownership, which ended when TFG took over in December 2024.
The potential for a friendly with Newcastle is not the only intrigue between the clubs heading into the final weeks of the season.
Former Everton winger Anthony Gordon is the subject of interest from clubs including Bayern Munich and, should Newcastle be willing to do business, any deal could net the Blues millions of pounds.
