One line in a new article by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler really sums up how things feel with the Dallas Cowboys and George Pickens right now.
"A receiver coming off a banner season with 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns rarely has to wait," Fowler writes of a new contract.
Therein lies the dilemma here.
The Cowboys plan to have Pickens play this season on the franchise tag -- and nothing is stopping them from giving Pickens a more expensive franchise tag next offseason.
"I'm kind of surprised it didn't get ugly this offseason," an executive told Fowler.

There's still time for things to take a negative turn, though.
"If they tag him again without the promise of a new deal, he could revolt." the executive told Fowler.
Dallas clearly wants to see Pickens continue to show talent and maturity before giving him a long-term commitment.
Wide receivers are famously level-headed, of course, so that shouldn't be a problem -- oh wait, it very well could be.
"He wants to be in Dallas, but he also wants a new deal," Fowler writes.
It feels a bit like a staring contest. At some point, one of the sides will win.
But if the conclusion is that the Cowboys lose the best WR that CeeDee Lamb has ever been teammates with, is that a winning outcome for Dallas? There's a lot to be figured out with this, for sure.
