City and United will meet in the FA Youth Cup final this evening

Manchester City Under-18s will take on Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup final tonight. The last time the two Manchester clubs clashed in the final of the prestigious youth competition was in 1986.

City have beaten Fulham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Blackburn in the Youth Cup on their way to the final, while United have knocked out Peterborough, Derby, Oxford United, Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

The two sides were closely matched throughout the Premier League North campaign, but City eventually prevailed after a battle for the title with United, who finished four points behind their rivals.

City last won the Youth Cup in 2023/24 and came close to defending the trophy last season, losing to Aston Villa in the final. United last won the competition, which they have won more times than any other club, in 2022/23.

There will be plenty of talent on the pitch tonight. City youngster Teddie Lamb beat JJ Gabriel to the Golden Boot award in the league, but Gabriel picked up the PL U18 Player of the Year award earlier this week.
