Cameron Jordan is one of the best pass rushers of his generation, but the open market has not been kind to the eight-time Pro Bowler. A first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Jordan became one of the most dominant edge defenders of the 2010s and has recorded 132 sacks, 763 tackles, 175 tackles-for-loss, and 17 forced fumbles since entering the league. He earned a spot on the Hall of Fame All-2010s Team and earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2017, and Second-Team All-Pro honors on two other occasions. While his best days are behind him, he proved last year that he can still be productive despite his advanced age. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, Jordan finished the season with 10.5 sacks, 47 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, and 15 quarterback hits.
Despite his long resume and his solid 2025, Cameron Jordan has not had much luck with finding a new team. The pass rusher is still a free agent despite playing one of the game’s most important positions. The Chicago Bears have long been viewed as a potential landing spot for the future Hall of Famer, but a recent quote from defensive coordinator Dennis Allen all but confirmed a signing will not happen.
“I don’t know that there’s been a ton of discussion about [signing Cameron Jordan],” Allen said, via Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times. “We feel pretty good about where we’re at and what we have. Yet you never know what opportunities might present themselves down the road.”
Dennis Allen: Bears Aren’t Looking to Sign Cameron Jordan
Let’s start with the obvious: Dennis Allen is not the Bears head coach, nor is he the general manager. Ultimately, he has little to no say in who the Bears sign, so there is a chance someone with more authority makes a move for Cameron Jordan. However, this is pretty unlikely, as Dennis Allen coached Jordan during their time with the New Orleans Saints. It stands to reason that, if the organization were interested in the 15-year veteran, they’d talk to Allen about what the former first-round pick can bring to the table.
While the Bears seemingly have no immediate interest in Cameron Jordan, the door is still open for him to sign down the road. Injuries are inevitable in the game of football, and perhaps Chicago could turn to the veteran if one of their starters suffers a season-ending ailment. Of course, the only question is whether or not Jordan will still be on the market.
Remaining Fits
Unfortunately for Cameron Jordan, it’s hard to see where his NFL path might take him. While there aren’t enough good pass rushers to go around, Jordan’s been available for so long that any interested team could have signed him by now. Seeing as he’s still available, it’s safe to assume that most of the league views him as nothing more than an emergency signing in the event of injury.
Even a reunion with the New Orleans Saints feels unlikely at this point. While Cameron Jordan seemed willing to leave his longtime team earlier in the offseason, he recently said he’d welcome a return to the Big Easy. However, the feeling may not be mutual. The team already has two reliable starters in Chase Young and Carl Granderson, and they added former first-round pick Tyree Wilson and longtime New England Patriot Anfernee Jennings to provide some much-needed depth. Given the logjam at the position, it’s hard to see where Jordan would fit on the depth chart.
Cameron Jordan is one of the best players in the storied history of the New Orleans Saints, but there’s a reason the NFL unofficially stands for “Not For Long.”
