Manchester United and Everton are reportedly among the clubs keeping an eye on Neco Williams' situation at Nottingham Forest, with the former Liverpool man set to be offered a new deal.

Nottingham Forest would like to tie down the Wales international, who has played at right-back and left-back for the City Ground side, which looks set to avoid relegation to the Championship under Vitor Pereira.

Williams left Liverpool in search of more regular game time, rather than playing a back-up role to Trent Alexander-Arnold. He has made 51 appearances for the East Midlands outfit this term, where he has been a star performer.

In addition to Manchester United and Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle have also been named by the BBC as clubs who are keeping a watching brief as contract talks continue.

Nottingham Forest is desperate to keep the player who it signed for a fee of around $16 million (£12 million) in the summer of 2022, though Williams will not be short of alternative options.

Last weekend, Williams captained Nottingham Forest for the first time. He was part of the team that was eliminated from the Europa League by Aston Villa at the semi-final stage.

Williams is not the only Nottingham Forest player set to draw interest this summer. Morgan Gibbs-White has courted strong interest in the past, while Elliot Anderson could be on the move.

Anderson has been mainly linked with the two Manchester clubs, though Liverpool might also need fresh legs in the center of the pitch, with doubts surrounding Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister.

"Obviously, we’ve got the World Cup this summer so all my eyes are on that," Anderson insisted while on international duty with England in March.

"Playing for England, I’ve got the badge on now so that’s all I’m thinking about at the moment. I want it that way [to be guaranteed a start], but I’ve got a season left with Forest.

"I’ve got plenty of games and there’s plenty of time until then. I’ve got to keep my standards high and make sure that happens."

Anderson left Newcastle in 2024 when the Magpies needed to cash in on someone to meet PSR (profit and sustainability) regulations. Yankuba Minteh was sold to Brighton at the same time, avoiding the need for Newcastle to let Anthony Gordon join Liverpool.

Liverpool.com says: Neco Williams is a really strong full-back. He deserves to play in European competitions more regularly and has done really well since leaving Liverpool.
