Following the extension of RB Devon Achane, the Miami Dolphins could look to trade Jaylen Wright before the 2026 season. The Dolphins haven’t been afraid of moving on from players, including Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb and more. Wright, a former fourth-round pick, has struggled to make any impact on the field. With Ollie Gordon likely to get more playing time, it makes sense for the Dolphins to dangle Wright on the trade block. During his rookie season in 2024, Wright recorded just 68 carries for 249 yards while appearing in just 15 games.
However, the running back did show some promise last year, but his numbers were too low. Other than his performance against the Jets in Week 14 of the 2025 campaign, his presence in this downhill run game has been an afterthought. He could stay with the Dolphins to fight for his backup role, but there could be legitimate competition between him and Gordon. The team just drafted Gordon last year, so they’d probably choose him over Wright.
While Devon Achane has been in several trade rumors this offseason after the Waddle trade, Wright isn’t going to garner the top return for the Dolphins.

Dolphins $64 Million Devon Achane Extension May Signal Massive Jaylen Wright Trade
Wright needs a new home if he doesn’t gain interest before the 2026 season. He could use this opportunity to establish himself as a backup before the Dolphins decide to trade him during the year if they have another abysmal campaign. Wright was also the subject of trade rumors this offseason, and it could be any moment that he could be on the move. Here are three teams that might roll the dice on the unestablished running back.
Possible Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
After extending Javonte Williams this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys haven’t paid much attention to adding depth to the RB group. While there isn’t too much to worry about, the Cowboys could use another established back. Malik Davis showed some flashes during the 2025 campaign, just like 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue. If the Cowboys want to bring in Wright to establish a true 1-2 punch, they could do so this upcoming season.
Wright isn’t going to get starting reps, but he has the size and skillset to ram through defenders in the red zone.
Kansas City Chiefs
If anyone needs a true backup, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs. The team committed to Kenneth Walker on a long-term deal after letting Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco walk in free agency. While they signed Emari Demercado and drafted Emmett Johnson, they now have somewhat of a legitimate room. However, Jaylen Wright might be the better upgrade in this situation and give what Walker needs.
They have a similar frame and pulverize through the blocks. Walker performed at his best when he had a true backup, when he was in Seattle with Zach Charbonnet, so Wright makes sense.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have failed to find a backup for starter RB Chase Brown. Even though they upgraded their defense, signing Boye Mafe and trading for Dexter Lawrence, there’s still a hole in the RB depth chart. Joe Burrow doesn’t need another talented running back, but someone who can be utilized on third-down plays. Jaylen Wright could be the new duo for Brown in Cincinnati.
The Bengals have all the right pieces on offense between Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Mike Gesicki, but why not have a complete, loaded roster? This doesn’t say that Samaje Perine isn’t good, but Wright has the right abilities of what the Bengals are looking for to revitalize his career playing for the Bengals.
