The left-back has lost his place to Joao Cancelo since the Portugal star arrived in the winter transfer window and has also been told by Hansi Flick he needs to improve.
“I’ve spoken with him. He was coming back from injury and he’s changed a lot in this time,” said Flick before the game against Alaves.
“When I see Balde, he’s improved a lot. He’s at the next level, but he needs to take one more step. He’s a fantastic player and he has to prove it. He needs to never give up and be better every day. That’s what I want from him.”
Balde is still only 22 so has plenty of time ahead of him to reach his potential. Yet there’s a suggestion that patience may be wearing thin at the club, with rumors claiming Barca are willing to listen to offers.
