Los Angeles Rams rookies took the field for the first time this week, which saw Ty Simpson participate in quarterback drills with Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett.
In a clip shared by the Rams on social media, Simpson can be seen throwing several short to intermediate passes and working on his footwork.
Simpson looked a little slow at times with his release and mobility, but it was good to see him out there with his fellow quarterbacks. He will have plenty of more opportunities to showcase his talents this summer, whether it be in workouts or preseason games.
The Rams hope that Simpson won’t need to step onto the field during the regular season, but several members of the organization are already raving about his potential and work ethic.

Simpson joins the Rams after spending four seasons with the Crimson Tide. He became a starter for the first time during his senior year, completing 305 of his 473 attempts and throwing for 28 touchdowns against five interceptions in 15 games.
Simpson also rushed for 93 yards and added two more touchdowns on the ground, showing the impact he could potentially have as a runner.
The 2026 season is set to be a transitional year for Simpson, but the Rams are understandably excited about what he will bring to the table in the future.

The Rams have high hopes for Simpson after selecting him with the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but he isn’t expected to make much of an impact this season with Stafford still playing at a high level.
Simpson said he received a welcome text from Stafford, who teased him about playing his college ball with the Crimson Tide.
Stafford’s friendly banter with Simpson is another sign that the 38-year-old did not mind the Rams drafting his potential long-term successor at quarterback.
L.A. reportedly gave Stafford a heads-up about the pick, which helped ease any potential tension that may have arisen after the draft.
Simpson now finds himself in an outstanding situation, getting to learn from Stafford and head coach Sean McVay before taking the reins as Rams starting quarterback someday.
