Chelsea wonderkid puts in MOTM display in Under-17s AFCON opener

Ibrahim Rabbaj may not be a name that many Chelsea fans have heard up until this point, but he’s starting to make waves for both club and country.

Ibrahim Rabbaj has rapidly become one of the most talked-about talents at Cobham, often earning the Moroccan Messi comparison due to his low centre of gravity and technical dribbling.

Since joining Chelsea from Crystal Palace at the Under-12 level, his progression has led to Rabbaj signing his first professional contract, committing his future to the club until 2028.

He has been a standout performer for the Under-18s, notably scoring a hat-trick against Leicester City, and has successfully stepped up at higher level.

Meanwhile, on the international front, Rabbaj’s decision to represent Morocco over England sees him currently out in his home country for the Under-17s African Cup of Nations.

Ibrahim Rabbaj impresses in Under-17s AFCON opener

Ibrahim Rabbaj’s display in the U-17 AFCON opener yesterday against Tunisia only added to the hype surrounding the youngster. Many people on X even spotted the similarities to Lionel Messi.

Operating primarily from the right wing, he terrorised the Tunisian defense with his signature close control and dribbling ability.

A key moment occurred in the second half when he appeared to be fouled in the penalty area; while VAR ultimately denied the spot-kick, the incident shifted the momentum in Morocco’s favor.

His constant threat and vision eventually allowed the hosts to secure a vital 1-1 draw, and he even picked up the Man of the Match award after the game.

Does Pep Guardiola have a point?🤔
