Chelsea have been heavily linked with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, who is set to leave this summer. He is believed to be the alternative if the Blues fail to bring in Xabi Alonso. And now, it looks like they are seriously considering a move for one of the Cherries’ midfielders as well.
Bournemouth have been immense when it comes to identifying talent. Of course, Iraola has gotten a lot of credit for the job that he has done. But let’s not forget, their players have ended up joining clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and PSG in recent times. And despite that, they are still vying for a Champions League spot.
Naturally, Bournemouth players are expected to continue drawing attention. One of them seems to be on the radar of Chelsea now.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are stepping up their background work on Alex Scott. The Bournemouth midfielder is emerging as a ‘serious option’ on the club’s midfield shortlist heading into the summer transfer window.
Chelsea seriously considering move for Alex Scott
There is a believe that Chelsea need to add to their midfield this summer. Romeo Lavia has struggled to remain fit. Andrey Santos has not met the expectations he set with his performances on loan at Strasbourg.
Scott is someone who has impressed with his ability to carry the ball up the middle of the park and he can operate under pressure. He contributes on the other side of the game as well. The midfielder is in the 95th percentile in the Premier League when it comes to recoveries and in the 94th percentile for defensive contributions.
Those numbers suggest that he can be an excellent addition in the middle of the park for Chelsea. Of course, they are not the only ones looking to sign him.
Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested
Manchester United are believed to be interested in Scott as well. Liverpool and Newcastle United are said to be monitoring the situation too. So, Chelsea won’t find it easy to get a deal done.
Chelsea scouts are believed to have been watching the Bournemouth midfielder this season. The report goes on to state that internal discussions regarding Scott have intensified ahead of the summer window.
On the other hand, it looks like Bournemouth want to keep Scott as well. They are believed to be keen to hand him a new deal. When it comes to a transfer, it might take a fee in the region of £50 million.
