NY Giants news: Udfa CB Thaddeus Dixon suffers Achilles injury

Undrafted rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon has suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon, ending his chance to stick with the New York Giants before it truly began.

Dixon, out of North Carolina, was guaranteed $282,500 by the Giants to sign with them after the draft. That equals a full season’s practice squad salary, plus a $35,000 signing bonus.

The belief was that the 6-foot, 195-pound Dixon could work his way into the mix as a back cornerback and special teams contributor. Dixon had a ‘30’ visit with the Giants prior to the draft.

Dixon played two collegiate seasons at Washington and one at North Carolina. In 34 games, he had two interceptions and 22 passes defensed.
