Breaking: Jerry Rice’s Son Signs With Super Bowl Contender (Report)

Jerry Rice is widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver of all time. His 20-year career allowed him to break most all-time wide receiving records that still stand today. Now, his son will get a chance to carve out his own legacy, and his career is starting with a Super Bowl contender.

Here are the details.

Jerry Rice’s Son Signs With NFC Super Bowl Contender

It has been difficult for wide receiver Brenden Rice, the son of GOAT Jerry Rice, to make an impact in his first two seasons in the NFL. With his third season approaching, he hopes to be offered a position by the Green Bay Packers.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd NFL Team, the Packers have claimed Rice off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders. After being drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL Draft, Green Bay will become his fifth team:

2025 was a rough season for Rice. He was cut by the Chargers during final roster cuts to start the season then bounced around the league on practice squads for the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and finally the Raiders. Rice signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders this past January.

The only NFL action he saw came with the Chargers in 2024. He appeared in three games and got a grand total of three snaps on offense and 10 on special teams, recording no targets or tackles.

Brenden Rice’s College Career

The fact that Rice has not been able to replicate his father’s success in the NFL does not imply that he did not have potential in the first place. During his four college seasons, he split his time between Colorado and USC, where he contributed significantly as a returner for the Buffaloes and a receiver for the Trojans. Here is a look at his college stats:

43 games played

111 career receptions

1,821 receiving yards

16.4 yards per reception

21 receiving touchdowns

54 rushing yards

22 kick returns

555 return yards

25.2 yards per return

1 punt return touchdown

It will be interesting to see if he is able to establish himself with the Green and Gold.
