Vikings lauded offseason plan thanks to 1 key move

The Minnesota Vikings' offseason has been dominated by the franchise's decision to acquire veteran quarterback Kyler Murray.

With the franchise already having J.J. McCarthy, the decision to bring in a veteran certainly raised eyebrows, but others could also see the logic -- McCarthy struggled mightily in his first season as a starter.

But given how the Vikings' roster is constructed, they view themselves in the win-now mode, and Murray coming in certainly helps push that cause.

For CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles, he's described Minnesota's offseason plans with one word: quarterback.

"No team needed -- and got -- as immediate a quarterback upgrade as the Vikings. Murray is an enigmatic, sometimes-frustrating and oft-injured player," Pereles wrote. "But he's also a major talent, and he's joining Kevin O'Connell, who has gotten the very best out of lesser talents.

"Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and recently acquired Jauan Jennings form an excellent receiver trio."

Who will be Vikings' QB1?

It has to be Murray, doesn't it?

He clearly offers the Vikings the best chance to win right now, plus, he's simply a better quarterback than McCarthy. Again, right now.

The thought of what Murray could do with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison is a tantalizing thought, plus defenses would have to plan for a whole lot more to deal with Kyler compared to J.J.

This offseason will be all about the quarterback battle in Minnesota, and it is one that Murray should be winning, and you could make the case, winning it rather easily.
