ESPN drops huge Patrick Mahomes Chiefs injury update

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his recovery from an ACL injury have been the big storyline for fans to follow this offseason.

We know that Mahomes' intent is to be starting in Week 1, a timeline which many think he won't reach, but as we turn to the offseason workouts, there is now a real thought that Patrick is far ahead of schedule in his recovery.

So much so that the NFL scheduled the Chiefs on Monday Night Football to begin the season, and for ESPN's Adam Schefter, he dropped a nig nugget of information on Patrick's recovery.

“The feeling right now within the organization is that he is tracking to be ready for that Monday night game against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos in Kansas City," Schefter said.

Mahomes primed for Week 1?

Well, as we sit here today, you can make that case, but of course, once training camp begins and we see how Patrick's knee responds to consistent practices, that will tell us a lot.

Recovery from such a devastating injury is never linear, so there will likely be some form of a setback. The question is how Mahomes will proceed as the weeks go by.

Week 1 is the goal, and right now, it appears that Mahomes is ahead in his recovery and is every chance to be on the field against Denver.

Yes, there's a lot of water to go under the bridge until then, but Patrick is certainly in a great spot...for now.
