Chelsea are now battling Juventus and Ajax for 6ft 5in goal machine Bendeguz Kovacs

Behdad Eghbali recently said that Chelsea would be signing more experienced players in the upcoming summer window. Their interest in AZ Alkmaar’s Bendeguz Kovacs tells a different story.

Those across Chelsea’s struggles this season are all of the same opinion. Chelsea lack leaders, and without more experienced players in Calum McFarlane’s side, the young talents Chelsea boast will fail to shine.

Realistically, how much is Cole Palmer worth?🤔

Eghbali recently said in an interview that Chelsea would target more-established, elder players that can help coax the potential out of the current squad. Trevoh Chalobah just praised Toni Rudiger’s tutorship.

But the latest reports from none other than Sky Italy’s renowned transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio suggest BlueCo’s desire to continue to bring in the best young talent is not going to stop, either.

Chelsea rivalling Juventus and Ajax for Hungarian superstar

Bendeguz Kocavs is a name not many will have heard of, and that is because he has only played four times at senior level for AZ Alkmaar. Still only 19, Kovacs is a 6 ft 5 in striker scoring plenty of goals.

Those goals have come in the second tier of Dutch football, for AZ’s second string and it has certainly caught the eye. It is probably too soon to say Chelsea are eyeing Hungary’s answer to Peter Crouch.

But the potential is there. Kovacs scored 10 goals in 21 games for Ajax’s U19 side before moving to AZ last summer, where he has since scored 33 goals this season for AZ’s U19 and U21 sides in 39 games.

It has earned him four senior appearances for Alkmaar and a path into the Hungary National Team. Di Marzio says Chelsea, Ajax and Juventus want him, while Alkmaar are keen for him to sign a new deal.

Kovacs would make Chelsea history if he plays for Blues

Despite Chelsea’s international squad and BlueCo’s desire to pluck the world’s best footballing gems from around the world, no Hungarian has ever played for Chelsea’s first team, as things stand.

Should the Blues raid AZ for Kovacs in the summer, and fend off competition from Juventus and old side Ajax, then a first-team debut for the West London side would see him become Chelsea’s first Hungarian.

The report indicates that should Chelsea sign Kovacs, they may do so in tandem with Austrian side RB Salzburg. It might be a case of signing Kovacs and loaning him to Erling Haaland’s old club this summer.
