Federico Gatti is nearing the Juventus exit and this may be a positive for Everton and Aston Villa.
Over the past few months,Sport Witness have closely monitored the defender’s situation. English interest has grown, especially as Luciano Spalletti doesn’t see him as a key player.
Despite having returned from an injury back in December, he has started just once in Serie A this year. In the past three league games, the centre-back has been on the pitch for only four minutes in total.
Now, Gatti is determined to get game time and has made a major decision about his future.
Player convinced about choice
Gazzetta dello Sport appear sure that Gatti wants to leave the Old Lady.
He is one of the most liked players in the current squad but the player doesn’t want to waste his best years on the bench. The Italian feels he can offer more and is now looking at a new destination.
There is interest from Turkey but that’s not thought to be his preference.
English clubs remain in the picture
TuttoSport offer more details today. Interest from Aston Villa and Everton finds a mention, with Juventus keen on parting ways with the 27-year-old.
He isn’t seen as a fit for Spalletti and is viewed as a capital gain which can be used to sign an upgrade. That is why ‘selling him for €25m’ will go down well.
Gatti would be a reliable squad player
Even if the centre-back wants regular football, he might not have the technical ability to play every game in the Premier League.
Both Aston Villa and Everton can use him as a valuable squad player.
Gatti can also play on either side at centre-back. Under Igor Tudor, he was also a regular in the wide centre-back role.
A fee of €25m is unlikely to be a problem for Aston Villa or Everton. Both Unai Emery and David Moyes are known to be pragmatists, which would work with Gatti’s strengths.
