Seamus Coleman’s finest moments for Everton

Coleman has announced he will be leaving Everton at the end of this season.

The full back has played for the Toffees since 2009.

Has captained since 2018 and put in many marvellous performances for Blues.

Seamus Coleman has announced his retirement from professional football.

After achieving over 400 games for Everton, the Toffees’ captain will be a part of his final home matchday squad during Sunday’s encounter against Sunderland.

The full back will be focused on the game ahead as the Blues look to secure a return to European football for the first time since 2017.

Coleman will go down as one of Everton’s greatest right backs, and here are some of his finest moments in royal blue.

Seamus Coleman, welcome to the Premier League.

After making his debut in a 5-0 defeat against SL Benfica in the Europa League, Coleman returned to action just three days later in a Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Irishman bounced back instantly and made an immediate impact after replacing the injured Joseph Yobo from the substitute bench.

He was named Man of the Match for his performance as Everton ended up drawing 2-2 with the North London outfit.

The best right back in the Premier League

Coleman’s 2013-14 campaign was his best on record, as he helped Everton achieve their record points tally in the Premier League, 72.

The right back scored six goals and registered two assists in the league, and presented himself as the ideal modern-day full back.

He would go on to be linked with moves away from Merseyside after his outstanding performances, but opted to remain and build a legacy with the Toffees.

Returned like he had never been away

Following a horrific leg injury in March 2017, Coleman faced months away from playing action, leaving Everton without their favoured right back.

The Republic of Ireland international returned in January 2018, and he was back up and running immediately.

With the Blues guiding themselves away from relegation under Sam Allardyce, linked up brilliantly with new signing Theo Walcott and helped his side claim a 2-1 win against Leicester City.

Seamus is the difference in a relegation six-pointer

Everton’s start under Sean Dyche started with a bang after defeating title-chasing Arsenal 1-0.

They crashed back down to earth following a Merseyside Derby defeat, but their next challenge was fellow relegation strugglers, Leeds United.

Dyche’s men were dominant, but it was Coleman’s outstanding goal, as he squeezed the ball past Illan Meslier from the tightest of angles, that handed Everton a much-needed set of three points.

Seamus Coleman, leader, legend… Manager

When Sean Dyche was sacked from his role as Everton manager in January 2025, Coleman and his former reliable full back partner, Leighton Baines, stepped in as interim managers for the Toffees’ FA Cup clash against Peterborough United.

They were installed as managers on the night of the tie and brought an assurance to the Everton dressing room, as they helped guide them to a 2-0 win.

Coleman further cemented his legendary status and defined his willingness to help his club in any way he could.
