Chelsea head into the FA Cup Final looking to win the competition for the ninth time. This would also mark their third trophy under the BlueCo era and guarantee Europa League football for the 2026/27 season.
Big game players turn up in big moments
Chelsea have a history of big players turning up in huge games, whether it be Didier Drogba or Frank Lampard.
The biggest examples of this are the Blues' current squad, which includes Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez.
Palmer has scored at Wembley before for Manchester City, opening the scoring in the 2024 Community Shield against Arsenal in a 1-1 game that would see City lose on penalties. A week later, Palmer scored the equalising goal in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla, where City did manage to win on penalties.
Palmer's biggest moment in a Chelsea shirt came last summer, when he scored two quickfire goals and provided an assist to make it 3-0 in the first half of the FIFA Club World Cup Final against PSG.
Fernandez played a key role in reaching the Wembley final, scoring the winner in the semi-final against Leeds United.
The Argentine also scored an added-time equaliser when the sides met in the Premier League back in January, the first game in charge for Callum McFarlane.
The need to be on point defensively against a formidable City attack
One non-negotiable for Chelsea's chance of winning the FA Cup will be a faultless afternoon from the backline. This is considering Manchester City's front four of Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, Antoine Semenyo, and Rayan Cherki have 69 goal contributions between them in the Premier League.
The Blues have also conceded 49 goals in the league this season, a total that is only worse for eight other teams.
Having both Reece James and Levi Colwill available once again is a big benefit for Chelsea. Last season, they conceded 44 goals in the league, which was the third-best record; a reason for that was the availability of both Colwill and James for the majority of the season.
Overcoming a poor recent record against Manchester City
Unbelievably, Chelsea have not beaten Manchester City since May 2021. Though the last time it happened, it was in the biggest club game there is - winning the UEFA Champions League for the second time in the club's history by beating Pep Guardiola's side 1-0.
They have met 13 times since then, with two draws and eleven wins for City.
The last time they met in the FA Cup came in the semi-final back in 2024, Bernardo Silva winning the game in the 84th minute, though Chelsea believed they should have had a penalty for a handball by Jack Grealish.
It's a completely different team now, with only club captain James remaining from the side that came out on top in Porto. The Blues have proven that they can win as an underdog on many occasions.
