Amid external scrutiny over Chelsea’s direction, Romeo Lavia has delivered a passionate defense of the dressing room’s mentality.
Romeo Lavia’s season has been all about patience and steady rebuilding. After a difficult, injury-plagued start to his Chelsea career, the 22-year-old midfielder has taken major steps forward this year by staying fit for long stretches and making over 20 appearances across all competitions.
While he hasn’t been a permanent fixture in the starting lineup, often featuring as a valuable option from the substitutes’ bench, his technical quality and composure in possession have provided a massive boost to the squad when called upon.
Even though his season ended with the disappointment of missing out on Belgium’s World Cup squad, Lavia has successfully laid the foundations to become a vital part of Chelsea’s midfield under the new boss.

“When you’re in the building, never at any point do you see there’s a loss of belief.”

The criticisms of the approach at Chelsea
The BlueCo project at Chelsea has faced relentless criticism from pundits and fans alike, primarily targeted at its aggressive, youth-centric transfer strategy.
A lack of experience has been blamed for the Blues’ ongoing inconsistency and high managerial turnover, leading to accusations that the club is being run like a chaotic simulation.
Spending around £2 billion to end up with a squad no better than before the investment has everyone looking at the owners and the sporting directors.
