Manchester City closing in on signing – First one of the summer for Pep

Troyes youngster Mathys Detourbet is set to join Manchester City this summer, before joining Monaco on a season-long loan deal.

Foot Mercato report that the youngster’s future is becoming clearer as clubs around Europe line up for his signature.

Manchester City agreement

The website explains that while Troyes are set to return to Ligue 1 next season, they might have to do so without their rising star.

Mathys Detourbet has been attracting interest for some time. The 19-year-old has admirers across Europe after establishing himself in the Troyes first team this season.

He’s managed three goals and six assists in33 games in Ligue 2, with five and seven in 38 games in all competitions. Manchester City have been linked with a potential move for months.

Sport Witness covered a report December explaining they had a distinct advantage thanks to their relationship with Troyes. A report last month then insisted that they remain keen on him.

City then Monaco

Now, according to FM’s information, Mathys Detourbet will sign for Manchester City this summer. The plan is for him to sign at the Etihad before then going out on loan to a club of his choice in France.

That club is likely to be Monaco. In fact, Foot Mercato have already learned that the youngster is looking for a home in the Principality. The deal is seen as a good one for all parties.

Manchester City get the youngster they want. Detourbet can continue his development at a big club in Monaco, in Ligue 1. And Monaco get an offensive reinforcement on a favourable deal.

The move is a major coup for Manchester City, who are securing a top-rated player ahead of the competition. The nature of the deal isn’t clear yet. Although it is likely to be a favourable one given their relationship with Troyes via the City Football Group.
