Leicester will be in chase for a new manager, but still some uncertainty about Gary Rowett, as he or the club has not yet made any confirmation about his situation.
We believe, that as longer it takes to see any information out in the open, Rowett is not the man to lead Leicester next season. Then other names of course appear on lists of candidates.
With most people believing Scott Parker not considering stepping down to the third level of english football, others are and must be considered. One is the present Plymouth Argyle manager, Tom Cleverley.
On 13 June 2025, Cleverley became head coach of Plymouth Argyle on a three-year contract. After a poor start in the 2025/26 season, with only thirteen points from the first fourteen matches, the club reaffirmed their support for Cleverley on 29 October, stating he was the ‘right person’ for the job. His fortunes improved in the second half of the season, where he led the team to thirteen points in five unbeaten matches, earning him the EFL League One Manager of the Month award for March 2026, as Plymouth aimed for the play-offs, finishing just 2 points short in 8th place.
His background and positive performance as a loan player at Leicester, during the 2008/09 League One promotion season, is a fun fact, but also be a valuable experience, if targeted for this special and very important appointment.
Tom Cleverley played and coached at Watford. He became the clubs caretaker manager, and later manager. The former England, Man Utd, Leicester loanee and Watford player had a life, being under the wings of Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare, Claudio Ranieri and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Following the dismissal of Watford manager Valérien Ismaël on 9 March 2024, Cleverley was appointed as interim head coach. On 24 April 2024, he became the permanent head coach after losing only one of his seven matches. However, on 6 May 2025, he was sacked. But still one memorable member of that establishment for several years.
Alan Nixon is reporting that Blackburn Rovers are considering Tom Cleverley among the candidates to replace the departing Michael O’Neill.

To sign Tom Cleverley, Leicester will likely need to pay compensation, but his team’s improvement in the later stages of the season, following a tough start, has been noted.
He has a profile that suits Leicester well. His brief experience as an ex player during a League One promotion season, and his past connections to the football club, would be interesting to explore.
Blackburn are another club, looking for a new manager. According to well informer journalist Alan Nixon, Tom Cleverley, is considered a candidate for the job at Ewood Park. Plymouth Argyle fans are keen to keep their current manager, being close to reach the play-off’s.
At this point, little or now movement in the bookies odds list on the next Leicester manager. We need to be patient in the wait for a new manager. This could be dragging out for a few more weeks. To get this appointment correctly, must be better, than having it done in a hurry.
