Chelsea are getting closer to making a decision over who will become their new permanent manager, and have held talks with four final candidates.
It is believed that Xabi Alonso has emerged as the main candidate for the job after impressing throughout discussions between both parties.
The Spaniard has an obvious connection to Liverpool, however they seem convinced to stick with Arne Slot despite an underwhelming season at Anfield.

Chelsea talk to three managers as well as Xabi Alonso
The Blues feel confident they can bring Alonso in, although have been doing due dilligance with other candidates in case things do not work out.
Fabrizio Romano stated on his Youtube channel that Chelsea have held talks with Premier League managers Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva, however have been more impressed by the former Real Madrid boss.

He said: “I can tell you that Chelsea had a direct meeting with Xabi Alonso, not just with his representatives, but also with Alonso himself.
“Chelsea also spoke to several managers: Iraola, Glasner, Marco Silva, but with Xabi Alonso, they had very productive talks. Now a final decision is expected soon.”
Behdad Eghbali was reportedly keen on Iraola, with the club originally having a desire to bring in a manager with Premier League experience.

Chelsea squad out to impress Alonso
Whoever is in charge of Chelsea next season will be keeping a close eye on how they get on in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The Blues are being tipped to line up with a back three again after finding more success in that system at Anfield than they have in recent months.
Conveniently, this is the tactic which Alonso utilised to his success during his brilliant spell in charge of Bayer Leverkusen.
A number of individuals will be looking to prove a point to their future manager, none more so than Cole Palmer after his tough personal campaign.
