Champions Manchester City ended their Women's Super League campaign by beating West Ham, with Khadija Shaw scoring twice.

Having won the competition for the first time since 2016, Andree Jeglertz's side were given a guard of honour by the Hammers players before kick-off and lifted the trophy after it.

Canada international Jade Rose put them ahead in the 13th minute with her first WSL goal, blasting home from inside the six-yard box after the hosts failed to clear a corner from the left.

Shaw, the WSL's top scorer, doubled City's lead in the 57th minute, finishing well from Aoba Fujino's excellent low cross from the right.

That goal meant the Jamaica striker, who has been linked with a summer move to Chelsea when her contract expires, became the first player in WSL history to reach the 20-goal mark in three different seasons.

It was also her 100th goal involvement in just 93 appearances, with only team-mate Vivianne Miedema reaching the milestone in less matches (83).

West Ham pulled a goal back five minutes later when Seraina Piubel converted from Ffion Morgan's low cross, but Shaw got her second goal of the afternoon in the 72nd minute, shooting into the bottom corner.

England international Laura Coombs, who, at the age of 35, will be retiring at the end of the season, made it 4-1 with 10 minutes to go as her shot took a deflection and looped into the net.

The only downside for the visitors was an ankle injury for England forward Lauren Hemp, who had to be substituted midway through the first half.

City face Brighton in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, 31 May, with the Lionesses playing an away World Cup qualifier against reigning holders Spain on 5 June.
