The winners of the FA Cup get entry into the Europa League, but, as City have already qualified for the Champions League thanks to their league spot in the top four, that place in the second tier European competition goes back to the league.

That now means that the top eight in the Premier League will be guaranteed European football of some description.
After Aston Villa’s victory over Liverpool last night, it will likely be the top five in the Champions League, sixth and seventh in the Europa League and eighth in the Conference League.
For Bournemouth to qualify now, without thinking about results elsewhere going their way, the Cherries just need a single point in their final two matches to confirm their place in Europe, as that would mean Everton and Chelsea can no longer catch Andoni Iraola's side.
That assumes the teams below them win their remaining games, but of course teams can, and may well drop points in their final two.

In fact, as reported, Bournemouth can confirm their place in Europe for the first time tomorrow, before kicking a ball on Tuesday when they face City at the Vitality Stadium.
To do that, Brentford would need to lose to Crystal Palace and Everton would need to drop points against Sunderland.
Both those results would mean the Bees and the Toffees can no longer catch Bournemouth in the league, and a top eight finish will be confirmed.
Either way, today’s cup result has made it that little bit easier for the Cherries to confirm their place in Europe and make history.
