Chelsea player ratings in FA Cup final, Levi Colwill stars but let down by 4/10 teammate

Chelsea performed well but were ultimately defeated by Manchester City in the 2026 FA Cup final. Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the game.

Calum McFarlane’s side set up in a structured, defensive style, and held firm for large portions of the game as they threatened themselves.

It was a touch of class which separated the sides. Antoine Semenyo’s clever flicked finish after 72 minutes broke the deadlock and the hearts of the Chelsea fans inside Wembley.

Chelsea FA Cup final player ratings

The Blues got in a number of good positions before the end of the game, but were unable to beat James Trafford and take the game to extra-time.

The Chelsea Chronicle have handed out player ratings from the defeat at Wembley.

Robert Sanchez: 6/10

Donning the Petr Cech-style cap following his recent head injury, Robert Sanchez had little to do and couldn’t

Malo Gusto: 6/10

Faced a tricky test up against Jeremy Doku, but with the help of his teammates kept the in-form Belgian relatively quiet at Wembley.

Wesley Fofana: 6/10

Has looked closer to his best in the last two weeks with the change of formation, was largely untested at the back.

Levi Colwill: 9/10

The heartbeat for Chelsea every time they looked to move the ball forwards. His line-breaking passes have been so dearly missed by the Blues. Levi Colwill did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Jorrel Hato: 7/10

Arguably the most improved player in the Chelsea starting side, Jorrel Hato enjoyed another fine outing in the left centre-back role, where he looks most comfortable.

Marc Cucurella: 6/10

Didn’t get as high up the pitch as he was allowed against Liverpool, but still worked the ball well and came out on top overall of the battle with Antoine Semenyo.

Reece James: 6/10

A welcome return to the Chelsea side, with the captain starting in midfield as he so often does in big games. Reece James impressed but just couldn’t connect with the final ball on a number of occasions.

Moises Caicedo: 7/10

Grew into the game to the point where Moises Caicedo was the best midfielder on the pitch for a prolonged period of time.

Enzo Fernandez: 4/10

Had a brilliant chance to level the game just moments after City had taken the lead, but the ball landed on the top of the net. A frustrating afternoon for Enzo Fernandez, who could have been sent off in the first half.

Cole Palmer: 7/10

Spent the majority of the first half doubling up on Jeremy Doku and doing so effectively. If anyone had any questions over Cole Palmer’s commitment to the cause, they have just been answered.

Joao Pedro: 5/10

Was frustrated for large portions of the game having to deal with long balls from Sanchez, but was certainly effective in getting his teammates involved in counter attacks.

Pedro Neto: 5/10

Brought some pace to the left-hand-side for Chelsea, but was unable to make a meaningful contribution in the final third.

Liam Delap: N/A

Had a decent chance with a header but got things all wrong. A nightmare season ends in appropriate fashion.

Alejandro Garnacho: N/A
