Although the start of the 2026-27 NFL season is four months away, the New York Giants are keeping their NFC East rivalry with the Philadelphia Eagles alive during the offseason.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants are pursuing the same ex-Kansas City Chiefs two-time Super Bowl champion that the Eagles are interested in.
“On an NFC East tour, Nazeeh Johnson is visiting the Giants today,” Rapoport stated on X/Twitter Thursday, which is 12 days after the NFL insider noted that Johnson visited the Eagles.
Johnson joined the Chiefs in 2022 after the franchise selected him with the No. 259 overall pick (259). As a rookie, the 27-year-old safety totaled eight tackles on a Chiefs squad that defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in that season’s Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, Johnson suffered a season-ending ACL during Kansas City’s 2023 training camp, forcing him to miss the entire 2023-24 campaign. The Marshall product returned to action in 2024-25 and posted career numbers in a more significant defensive role. Johnson finished the year with 56 tackles and one sack in 16 contests.
Once again, though, a substantial injury (shoulder) forced Johnson to miss extended time, as he missed 15 of Kansas City’s 17 contests last year (he recorded two tackles when healthy). Needless to say, Johnson wouldn’t be a game-changing addition to the Giants, but he’s clearly a contributor on their radar in mid-May.
