Aaron Rodgers gets raise to $25M on new one-year Steelers contract

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $25 million on Saturday, with a base salary of $22 to $23 million.

It ends weeks of uncertainty about whether Rodgers would play a 22nd NFL season or walk away from the game entirely.

Pittsburgh's voluntary OTAs begin Monday, and Rodgers is expected to be there.

Last year, he did not commit until mandatory minicamp in June. The earlier arrival is a clear signal from a quarterback who spent much of last offseason undecided.

The new Steelers head coach spent 13 seasons as Rodgers' boss in Green Bay, and their working relationship produced four All-Pro selections and a Super Bowl title.

Pittsburgh hired McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin, who resigned after 19 seasons, and the familiarity between coach and quarterback was almost certainly a factor in Rodgers ' return.

Last season with Pittsburgh, Rodgers completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Steelers won the AFC North, but the playoff run ended in a 30-6 loss to the Texans in the divisional round, a game where Pittsburgh managed just 175 yards of offense.

The quarterback room also includes second-year player Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar, a third-round pick from the 2026 draft.
