Xabi Alonso has a plethora of first team talent to choose from when he arrives at Chelsea, and will also reap the rewards of an impressive academy system too.
Alonso has put pen to paper on a four-year deal as Chelsea boss, replacing Calum McFarlane at the end of the season when his interim duties come to an end.
The Blues chose to announce this appointment less than 24 hours after they were defeated in the FA Cup final, looking to bring some confidence to the club ahead of next season.

Genesis Antwi could make strides under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea
It remains to be seen what system Alonso looks to use at Stamford Bridge, and whether he goes back to the three at the back formation which served him so well at Bayer Leverkusen.
If so, he could have to look to the academy to find the flying wing-back option who would replicate Jeremie Frimpong, and could find exactly what he’s looking for in Genesis Antwi.

The 19-year-old has played 31 games in all competitions for the academy side this season, featuring on both the left and right of defence. At times, he has even featured on the right wing.
His ability to get forwards has been a highlight of his season, scoring twice and assisting six goals in all competitions.
Enzo Maresca handed Antwi a couple of appearances for the first team in the Conference League last season, and was impressed with what he saw.
There have been no opportunities since, but the hiring of Alonso could be the Swede’s best chance to make it at Stamford Bridge.

Alonso’s full-back conundrum
Alonso has already made it clear he wants to keep Marc Cucurella at the club, despite the interest in signing him from Spain.
He is more likely to get forward than Reece James. Chelsea will always be wary of his fitness and not wanting to push him too hard.
The skipper could star in the Alejandro Grimaldo role, where the focus is on creating opportunities from a deeper position.
