Tottenham could lose several players if they get relegated.
Roberto De Zerbi began his Tottenham Hotspur tenure with a 1-0 away defeat to Sunderland in April. Since that result, Spurs have not lost under De Zerbi. They have won twice and drawn as many games, helping the North Londoners to climb out of the relegation zone.
Going back to the Sunderland game, Conor Gallagher was one of several underwhelming performers for Tottenham on that day. It was the continuation of his poor start to life in N17 following his €40 million winter move from Atletico Madrid. A few days later, reports emerged claiming that Tottenham would be open to cutting their losses on the 26-year-old.
Conor Gallagher was signed to replace the injured Rodrigo Bentancur, who had to undergo surgery after sustaining a hamstring injury against Bournemouth in January. He was brought in to provide energy and drive in a midfield that had been consistently overrun throughout the season, but the move has failed to deliver on almost every level.

Interestingly, since the Sunderland outing, Conor Gallagher’s performances have improved. The England international starred for his side’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this month. It was his long-range first-half strike that got the ball rolling for Tottenham.
Despite Gallagher having struggled to live up to the lofty expectations in a short time at Tottenham, he is not short of suitors. Newly-promoted Coventry City are interested in signing the Tottenham man as they look to build a squad capable of Premier League survival under Frank Lampard. But, Coventry City could face competition from a Premier League outfit for his signing.
According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Everton will make a move for Gallagher if Spurs get relegated at the end of the season. David Moyes wants to bolster his midfield unit with an experienced head, and Gallagher has been earmarked by the Everton boss.
The English midfielder is unlikely to stay at White Hart Lane if Tottenham goes down to the Championship. Spurs will then be forced to cash in and cut their losses on the ex-Chelsea star. It is worth noting that he is on significant wages and that could make him one of the leading candidates to be moved on if the unthinkable happens.
Despite Gallagher’s poor five months at the Hotspur Way, Everton are ready to take a gamble on him. David Moyes would like to bring in someone who can grind it out in the midfield and has Premier League experience. Gallagher, in that regard, would be ideal for the Toffees.
