NFL Insider links Stefon Diggs to AFC Contender

The NFL offseason may be ramping up with team workouts, but franchises are still looking to finalize their rosters. After an active free agency period and the NFL Draft, several teams continue searching for upgrades at key positions.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to multiple wide receivers throughout the offseason. They may now have interest in a former division rival’s top target.

Kansas City endured an uncharacteristically inconsistent season last year. Injuries piled up, close games slipped away, and the team failed to capitalize in situations it typically controls.

A match that makes sense

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to return as early as Week 1. The Chiefs understand they still need to improve the weapons around him.

The team has lacked a true No. 1 receiver since trading away Tyreek Hill. While Kansas City has still managed to win two Super Bowls since the move, that absence has become more noticeable over time.

Diggs could help fill that void. The former Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots receiver remains a productive pass catcher and one of the league’s sharper route runners.

Adding a player of Diggs’ caliber could help Kansas City reestablish itself as one of the NFL’s most dangerous offenses. Mahomes already gives the Chiefs a chance to compete every season, but pairing him with a proven, consistent receiver could elevate the unit even further.

Diggs also could quickly develop strong chemistry with Mahomes and provide another reliable option in the passing game. Kansas City further strengthened its offense this offseason by adding Kenneth Walker III, a move designed to improve the rushing attack and balance the offense.

Other teams reportedly connected to Diggs include the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons. With his legal issues now reportedly resolved following a court victory, interest in the veteran receiver could continue to grow.

Diggs is expected to sign with a new team in the near future. The biggest question now is where he will play during the 2026 NFL season.
